Everything You Need to Know About Georgie and Lottie Co.
If you've been searching for a modern needlepoint brand that actually has taste. Welcome. You found us.
Georgie & Lottie Co. is a hand-painted needlepoint canvas company founded by sisters Alonsa Price Riddle and Natasha Price Sewell. We launched because we couldn't find needlepoint canvases that felt like us. Elevated, a little cheeky, designed for people with a strong aesthetic point of view who also happen to love a slow, analog hobby. So Alonsa started designing them. We started having them painted by hand. And here we are.
The name? Our dogs. Obviously.
What We Actually Make
Every canvas in the Georgie & Lottie shop starts with Alonsa. Well, it actually might start in our texts. We are constantly sending each other ideas and inspiration! But, she designs each piece from scratch and paints at least the first canvas by hand in her studio. No licensed clip art. No generic motifs that you've seen on seventeen other needlepoint sites.
What you get is an original work of art on mesh, one that happens to be designed so you can stitch it yourself.
Our canvases range from classic motifs with a modern twist to designs that are frankly a little ridiculous in the best way. We believe needlepoint should feel like a luxury hobby, not a chore. The stitching process is meditative. The finished piece should be something you actually want to hang on your wall or give as a gift.
We also carry hand-dyed fibers (aka threads), accessories, and everything you need to get started. Because a beautiful canvas sitting in a drawer because you didn't know what thread to buy is a tragedy we take personally.
Who Georgie & Lottie Is For
We designed this brand for the woman who has taste and knows it. She reads design blogs. She has strong opinions about font choices. She thinks most craft brands look a little sad, and she's right.
She might be brand new to needlepoint. In fact, most of our customers are. Alonsa designs every canvas with the beginner in mind, which means the painted canvas guides your stitching without you needing years of experience to pull it off. Our Stitch School resources and video content exist because we genuinely want you to finish the thing, not just buy it.
She might also be a seasoned stitcher who is bored of the same twelve traditional motifs and ready for something that feels current.
Either way: she's our person.
Why Hand-Painted Matters
This is the part people ask about most, so let's be direct.
We started stitching for our mental health. Not as a trend, not as a brand strategy. Because we needed something that required our hands and our attention at the same time. Something that made the noise stop. Needlepoint did that for us, and it's the reason we take the craft seriously enough to build a brand around it.
Every canvas in the Georgie & Lottie shop begins with Alonsa's original design and is brought to life by hand. The colors, the details, the shading and linework that guide your needle through the piece. All of it comes from a human, not a print run.
This matters for two reasons.
First, it means each canvas has a specificity and warmth that mass-produced canvases don't. You can feel the craft before you even pick up a needle.
Second, it means our designs are original. When you stitch a Georgie & Lottie canvas, you're stitching something Alonsa created. That's the thing we're proudest of, and it's the thing no one else can replicate.
The Sister Part
Alonsa lives in Richmond, Virginia. Natasha lives in Washington, DC. We run this company across state lines, across two very different skill sets, and across a shared conviction that needlepoint deserves a brand with a real point of view.
Alonsa is the Creative Queen. She paints, she designs, she has an artist's eye for what's going to be beautiful to stitch and beautiful to display. Natasha is the Business Queen. She brings over a decade of experience running her own creative business to the operations, marketing, and strategy side of G&L.
We didn't start this because it seemed like a good business idea. We started it because we love needlepoint! The business followed the art, not the other way around.
That origin matters. It means the creative vision is never compromised for the sake of trend-chasing or volume. Alonsa designs what she wants to design. We build the brand around that.
What Makes Georgie & Lottie Different From Other Needlepoint Brands
There are other needlepoint companies. Here's what sets us apart:
Original artwork. Every design is Alonsa's. Nothing is sourced, licensed, or templated.
A real aesthetic point of view. We are not your grandmother's needlepoint brand. We're not trying to be. The G&L voice is witty, warm, a little dry, and very intentional. If you've ever felt like craft brands talk down to their customers, you'll feel the difference immediately.
Beginner-forward without being dumbed down. We believe you can make something genuinely beautiful your first time stitching. Our canvases, resources, and community are designed around that belief.
Community over transactions. We're building something larger than a shop. Where everyone is welcome! Stay tuned…
