Welcome to Oh, Stitch: The Needlepoint Podcast
What happens when a longtime love of needlepoint, a creative sister, and a string of enthusiastic text messages collide? The answer is Oh, Stitch.
For Natasha and Alonsa, what started as a shared appreciation for creativity eventually evolved into a business, a growing community, and now a podcast dedicated to needlepoint and life beyond the canvas. In their very first episode of Oh Stitch, they pull back the curtain on their story, share what they are currently stitching, and explain how Georgie & Lottie came to life.
The result is an honest conversation about creativity, entrepreneurship, family, and finding joy in hobbies that slow life down.
Meet Natasha and Alonsa
Every business has an origin story, and Georgie & Lottie is no exception.
Natasha and Alonsa are sisters with complementary strengths. Natasha brings years of business experience and entrepreneurial energy, while Alonsa contributes her artistic background and creative vision. Together, they have built a business that reflects both of their talents.
Although the company itself is relatively new, Natasha's relationship with needlepoint stretches back nearly three decades.
Natasha's Needlepoint Journey
Natasha first discovered needlepoint more than twenty-eight years ago as a young mother. While navigating the demands of raising a baby, she found herself with small pockets of free time during naps and quiet moments throughout the day. During a trip to Middleburg, Virginia, she purchased her first needlepoint kit: a Peter Rabbit design that was ambitious for a beginner.
The project was large, stitched entirely in wool, and far more challenging than she realized at the time. Still, she completed it.
Like many hobbies, needlepoint eventually took a back seat to life's responsibilities. More children, moves, and changing priorities pushed it aside for years. Then came 2020.
How Needlepoint Became a Lifeline
For many people, the pandemic reshaped daily routines and intensified stress levels. Natasha was no exception. Like countless others, she found herself caught in an endless cycle of scrolling social media and consuming news. The constant influx of information created anxiety and left little room for rest.
Looking for a healthier outlet, she returned to needlepoint. It began as a way to keep her hands busy, but quickly became something much more meaningful. Needlepoint inspired focus and soon became her creative outlet. It created space away from screens and constant noise.
This experience is one that many stitchers can relate to. The repetitive nature of stitching often becomes a form of mindfulness. It slows racing thoughts and provides a sense of accomplishment one stitch at a time.
For Natasha, it reignited a creative passion that would eventually become the foundation for something bigger.
The Birth of Georgie & Lottie
As Natasha rediscovered needlepoint, she also began seeing opportunities (how many entrepreneurs operate). She knew her sister Alonsa possessed remarkable artistic talent. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and a background in commercial interior design, Alonsa had spent years creating and designing in various forms.
The more Natasha explored the needlepoint world, the more she realized Alonsa could create beautiful canvases of her own. Then came a trip to California.
While working together on a home project, the sisters found themselves discussing ideas, possibilities, and creative dreams. Somewhere between conversations and construction projects, the concept for Georgie & Lottie was born.
Natasha understood business strategy and entrepreneurship. Alonsa understood design, color, and creativity. Together, they created something neither could have built alone.
Why Start a Needlepoint Podcast?
While attending a business conference related to another venture, Natasha found herself inspired by speaker after speaker. Ideas began forming rapidly and back to back text started sending to Alonsa.
By the end of those conversations, a podcast had been added to the vision. Oh, Stitch became an extension of everything they hoped Georgie & Lottie could become: a welcoming community where creativity, needlepoint, and everyday life intersect.
Current Works in Progress (WIPs)
One of the recurring segments you’ll hear on Oh, Stitch is sharing current WIPs, or Works in Progress. For stitchers, WIPs represent the projects currently occupying stitching bags, travel totes, and living room baskets.
Alonsa: Georgie & Lottie Cheers Canvas
Alonsa is stitching a Georgie & Lottie canvas called Cheers, featuring three cocktails:
Espresso Martini
Dirty Martini
Paloma
She plans to finish the piece as an acrylic tray, creating both a decorative and functional item. One of her favorite elements is the corduroy stitch used in the background. While stitching large sections of a single color can sometimes become repetitive, the finished texture creates beautiful visual interest.
Alonsa: Cross Design
In addition to Cheers, Alonsa is also working on a cross canvas purchased from her local needlepoint store. The piece caught her attention because of its beautiful colors and timeless design. Like many stitchers, she prefers having multiple projects available depending on her mood.
Natasha: Georgie & Lottie Love Canvas
Natasha recently completed a colorful Love canvas featuring a rainbow heart. She chose to keep the background simple and allow the central design to remain the focus.
Natasha: Georgie & Lottie Bug Canvas
Natasha is also stitching a Georgie & Lottie bug-themed canvas that she plans to frame.
Unlike many stitchers who prefer stretcher bars, both sisters admit they are firmly in the roll-and-stitch camp. While they recognize they may be in the minority, they enjoy the flexibility of rolling their canvases and using finishing clips to secure their work.
For this piece, Natasha ultimately returned to a basketweave background after experimenting with decorative stitches that distracted from the design itself.
Sometimes the simplest choice truly is the best one.
Beyond the Canvas
Another recurring segment you’ll hear on the podcast is “Beyond the Canvas,” which explores interests outside of needlepoint.
Alonsa's Current Obsession: Meal Prep
Alonsa's latest obsession is surprisingly practical. Every Sunday, she prepares lunches for the week! The system allows her to grab meals quickly during busy mornings while still enjoying fresh, healthy food.
As someone who genuinely loves cooking, meal preparation serves as both a practical habit and a creative outlet. Her approach reflects a broader philosophy many creative people share: thoughtful preparation creates more room for enjoyment later.
Natasha's Current Obsession: Getting Dressed with Intention
For Natasha, the current focus is personal style.
After years of prioritizing family, business responsibilities, and everyone else's needs, she has begun investing more energy into dressing intentionally and expressing herself through clothing.
Working with a stylist helped her understand how to dress for her body type while experimenting with color, texture, and layering. One of the biggest lessons she learned is simple but effective: If an item cannot be worn at least three different ways, it probably should not be purchased.
That philosophy encourages thoughtful shopping, greater wardrobe flexibility, and fewer impulse purchases.
Creativity Shows Up Everywhere
Creativity does not belong exclusively to artists. It actually appears in many forms:
needlepoint
entrepreneurship
Cooking
personal style
It even appears in the willingness to launch a podcast before everything feels perfectly planned. Natasha and Alonsa know that creative living is less about perfection and more about participation. The goal is not to get everything right. It’s simply to begin.
The podcast represents more than a marketing channel for Georgie & Lottie. It serves as a gathering place for stitchers at every stage of the journey. Some listeners may be seasoned needlepoint enthusiasts while others may have never threaded a needle before.
Both are welcome.
Through future episodes, they plan to share stitching tips, business insights, personal stories, pop culture discussions, and conversations that extend beyond the canvas itself.
Their hope is simple: create a space where people feel inspired to make something with their hands and connect with others who love creativity just as much as they do.
